Sweetly Saved

There is nothing in this life
That is worth the toil and strife,
But to know that we are saved, sweetly saved;
There is nothing that gives peace,
Causing pain and strife to cease,
But to walk within the way he has paved.

If we gain the wealth of gold,
And much honor, fame untold,
But have failed to lay our treasures above;
He will say "I know ye not,
There is nothing good you've wrought,
But refused my offered mercy and love."

Earthly joys are for a day,
Earthly riches pass away;
But the peace that fills my soul, is to know;
That the love of God is sure,
And for ever will endure,
If I'm faithful I to Jesus will go.

For His life He freely gave,
Then the life of bliss immortal I shall share;
And I have His blood applied,
