New Method For DIY Filters For Reusable K-Cups
It took me a while to get smart, but I found a better and quicker way to make disposable filters for those reusable K-Cups. Instead of using an old K-Cup for a template, I started using a salsa dish that I picked up at Wal-Mart for a couple of bucks. The outside rim measures about 4-3/4" and is just the right size for any 2 scoop holder (including those for Cuisinart coffee makers which I use.)
Just take a stack of the 8 - 12 cup Brew-Rite coffee filters and lay them flat on the counter top. Using the salsa dish as a template, draw a circle around the dish.
After that, just hold the filters flat against the counter top and cut around the circle.
When finished just store them in a sandwich baggie and you are done!
Using this method I can quickly trim up a stack of filters. Inserting them into the reusable pods is fairly simple. Just center the filter over the opening and shove it in with two fingers, then walk it int place with both index fingers at the same time. It takes a little practice, but it works great.
Making your own filters is a lot cheaper than preformed ones and a lot cheaper than the coffee pods themselves.
Hope it works out well for you!
