He Will Keep Me

O'er the rugged path of duty,
Where my feet would fear to tread,
By the loving hand of Jesus,
Gently I am onward led.

Tho' thro' unknown paths He takes me,
I can never go astray,
Not a cross can overcome me,
While the Savior is my stay.

When upon the mount rejoicing,
Thrill'd with boundless love and peace,
There a still doth go before me,
Highest rapture to increase.

Joy or sorrow, pain or pleasure,
On the mount or in the vale,
I am His and He will keep me,
His is love that cannot fail.
